PROJECT SUBMISSION / PRODUCER PROGRAMME
ONSITE

Producers who would like to present an animation project at APD can submit their project via our online application form and register a maximum of two people to participate in the APD Producer Programme and represent the project. Only one project per company can be submitted.

The registration only becomes effective if the submitted project is selected for APD 2024. The selection results will be announced on 23 February 2024 at the latest. At this point, payment of the participation fee becomes due for the registered person(s).

  • TV series, TV specials, feature films, games, mobile content, cross and transmedia animation projects (incl. hybrid formats containing at least 50% animation)
  • short film projects, but only if they can be further developed into other formats
  • projects should be at concept or development stage
  • they should be suitable for and open to European co-productions
  • they should have potential for IP (Intellectual Property) development and for European and international distribution

A maximum of two people per company can register. One of them should be a producer. The author / scriptwriter, creator, director, head of animation or any other member of the creative team is also welcome to apply. It is not possible to register additional company representatives after the deadline for project submissions has passed.

APD is mainly a European event and is funded by Creative Europe MEDIA. Producers / companies submitting a project to APD should therefore have a registered office in one of the 27 EU-member states or in a country associated with Creative Europe Media (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, the Republic of Serbia, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine).

APD also considers submissions from other countries if the producers can provide convincing arguments that they are explicitly looking for independent co-production partners from EU countries.

Co-producers of projects submitted for participation in APD can also register for the Producer Programme (you can choose this option at the beginning of the registration form). Here, too, the registration only becomes effective if the submitted project is selected for participation in APD 2024. The participation fee then becomes due for the registered persons.

The project submission / registration can only be made via the APD online form.

Up to 50 projects will be selected to be presented at APD 2024.

The selection committee’s decision is based on the following main criteria:

  • Originality, creativity and innovation in terms of content and design
  • Openness and suitability for cross-border co-productions
  • Potential for the European / international market

The selection committee also takes into account the company track record, especially with regard to European co-productions, as well as the experience and work of the creatives involved. Furthermore, we aim for at least 50% of the participants in the Producer Programme to be women.

Special attention is given to projects which promote sustainability, inclusion and diversity on the content level and the production side and to projects from EU countries that have a low audiovisual production capacity (as defined by MEDIA: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Luxembourg, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Slovenia, Slovakia and in addition Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Republic of Serbia, and Ukraine). We also offer a reduced accreditation fee of EUR 340 per person (incl. 7% VAT) for participants from these countries.
